How do I choose the right Edexcel A Level Physics tutor for my child?
Choose a tutor who combines strong physics teaching with knowledge of the Edexcel course your child is taking. Pearson offers both Edexcel A Level Physics (9PH0) and Edexcel International A Level Physics (IAL), so the tutor should identify the correct specification and teach accordingly.
What should a parent check?
- Edexcel experience: knowledge of the relevant specification and assessment structure.
- A Level Physics specialism: experience focused on A Level Physics.
- Teaching ability: clear explanation of difficult ideas.
- Examiner insight: useful understanding of how answers are assessed.
- Individual fit: tuition adapted to the student’s needs and personality.
Why does the exact Edexcel specification matter?
The two Edexcel qualifications are different. 9PH0 is a linear A Level with three written papers and a separate Practical Endorsement. Edexcel IAL is modular, with six externally examined units.
The tutor should therefore establish which course the student follows before choosing material and examination practice.
